A biography on Lexie Blake.
By Caitlin Farmer
Why it’s newsworthy: Lexie Blake has multiple degrees not just academically, but to her personality as well. She describes herself as a dancer since she could walk and has always felt a push to pursue law due to her critical thinking skills.

Lexie Blake hopes to be the first person in her family to attend law school and attributes her work ethic and empowerment to her mother, Krissie Blake.
Blake says she was raised by a single mother, who worked in the male dominated industry of nuclear power plants.
“She kind of showed me what it was like to go against, like, what people tell you you should do as a woman.”

Hard work is nothing new to Blake, who was involved in multiple activities at Brunswick High School located in Brunswick, Georgia. Blake participated in the cheer team, dance team, worked, was president of NHS and was senior class president.
Additionally, She said she’s been a dancer for about 16 years and that dance was something she loved because it gave her a way to differentiate herself from others and wasn’t repetitive.
“Dance is something new all the time,” she said.
Now she is pursuing two degrees and a certificate in Applied Politics while working part-time and being an active member of UGA Public Relations Student Society of America and the Alpha Phi sorority at the University of Georgia.
Blake hopes to further her education by attending the UGA school of law after obtaining degrees in both public relations and political science. She always had plans to go into environmental law but has recently included civil rights law, something she says she is incredibly passionate about.
Blake says she has loved the opportunities Alpha Phi has given her to connect with others. When she is not studying or participating in sorority events, Blake said she bartends at Saucehouse Barbecue in Athens.
How I Wrote the Story.
I sat down with Lexie Blake for an interview about her life. She shared with me the things, experiences and people who shaped her into the woman she is today and the woman she hopes to be. I then took our interview and wrote a concise biography of what I felt best highlighted Lexie and the information she shared with me.
